In summer, the 4 vallées domain offers a magnificient backdrop views for walking, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding.

For extreme sports enthusiasts, why not visit the 4 Vallêes by air?  The summits offer lots of starting points for paragliding or hand gliding.

For winter sports, the 4 Vallées is the largest ski doamin in Switzerland.  It links the resorts of Verbier, Bruson, La Tzoumaz, Nendaz, Veysonnnaz and A paradise for skiing, snowboarding and other winter sports in Valais.

Situated at the head of the Val des Dix, Grande Dixence is the highest gravity dam in the world, and something of a record-breaker!

The height of its wall, 285 metres, remains unmatched. Its weight, approximately 15 million tonnes, makes it heavier than the Great Pyramid of Cheops.

The Grande Dixence dam is open to the public from mid-June to the end of September.

The Val d’Hérens (Eringer Valley) stretches from the Rhone Valley near Sitten to the foot of Dent Blanche, Dent d'Hérens, Mont Collon and Mont Blanc de Cheilon. Centuries-old villages with their typical dwellings lean against steep slopes. The concrete dam of Grande Dixence, which has a height of 285 meters and is the world’s highest dam wall, is located in the side valley of Val d'Hérémence.

Valais is a land of superlatives. It is home to the Great Aletsch Glacier, the longest of its kind in the Alps. The Matterhorn is probably the world’s best known and most photographed mountain. The imposing Grande Dixence is the world’s highest gravity dam and, with a history stretching back over 1,500 years, the Abbey of Saint-Maurice is the oldest monastery in the Western world.

These superlatives are well worth discovering – alongside many more highlights. Let us inspire you by showing you the many different faces of Valais!
